Mark has spent over two decades working full-time on creating, interpreting or commenting on internationally recognised standards in five business reporting domains: IFRS, IPSAS, XBRL, integrated reporting and auditing.
He has worked with many different types of New Zealand reporting entities, operating in all industries to help them efficiently and effectively resolve complex business reporting issues in areas such as revenue recognition, business combinations, asset impairment, financial instruments and tax. To support the many publications and articles he has either authored or reviewed, Mark has presented on almost every aspect of financial reporting in New Zealand to a wide range of audiences, both locally and overseas. He is presently an editor of the XYZ Model Financial Statements series published by Thomson Reuters.
Mark has an excellent understanding of New Zealand’s financial reporting requirements and the needs of users. He has been directly involved in many aspects of New Zealand standard setting and in judging a wide range of annual reports.
Mark is currently on secondment with Grant Thornton International in the UK as their Director of Financial Reporting.
