Originally from Australia, Simon joined Grant Thornton New Zealand in August 2009. Simon specialises in providing business recovery and advisory services to all stakeholders, including directors, shareholders and lenders. Prior to joining Grant Thornton New Zealand, Simon worked in Australia and the United Kingdom and can boast over 16 year’s experience dealing with all types of corporate and personal insolvency matters.

By virtue of his Australian experience, Simon is well versed in the voluntary administration process and is experienced in forensic and litigation support matters, including partnership and family law disputes.Simon’s experience covers most industries from construction and manufacturing to retail and professional services. He spent many years in regional Australia and gained significant experience in the agribusiness and farming sector, tourism and hospitality, and the mining industry.

Simon is presently involved with the liquidation of a failed insurance company following the Christchurch earthquakes and is passionate about assisting in the rebuild of the city he and his family have chosen to call home.

In tackling the many and varied challenges faced by businesses today, Simon’s focus is on identifying sound commercial solutions that will provide the best outcome for all stakeholders.

Outside interests

Married with five children, Simon is interested in all sport, but is a particularly keen basketballer. He also enjoys travelling, music, reading and spending time with his family.
