Based in Christchurch, Michael is a partner in the Grant Thornton New Zealand Audit division.

Michael has worked both in the United Kingdom and in California’s Silicon Valley, where he worked with a variety of public and private technology and financial services clients. This period included three years working as chief financial officer for the private equity group of a San Francisco based merchant bank.

In New Zealand, Mike has led numerous external audits of large privately held and Not for Profit organisations. He has also been involved in the evaluation and review of accounting and internal control systems, special investigations in the real estate and finance sectors and due diligence assignments.
Michael moved to New Zealand with his wife and three  children and joined Grant Thornton New Zealand in July 2005.

Outside interests

Michael enjoys spending time with family. He has a keen interest in all sports and is actively involved in golf, skiing, bowling and mountain biking.
