Geordie commenced his career with Grant Thornton New Zealand in 2000 becoming a Partner in 2007. His career includes a period as Financial Controller of a successful nationwide fast-food franchise and several years in chartered accountancy with both large and small practices in Christchurch.

Geordie has considerable experience dealing with a wide range of taxation issues. “I enjoy the opportunity to provide constructive and pro-active advice to clients.” Geordie is noted for communicating complex taxation issues to clients in a way that they can understand.

Valuable advice has been provided by Geordie to Grant Thornton’s clients, resulting in significant savings and clarity of obligations.

Outside interests

Geordie is a board member and treasurer of the Somerfield Community Hall, the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust and the Christchurch Rotary Club. Geordie also chairs the Somerfield School Board of Trustees.

He is married to Deb and has four growing children. In his spare time, Geordie enjoys infrequent light exercise, reading and trivia, the latter being useful for hosting the occasional quiz night.
