Filing and tea making aren’t high on the agenda for our graduates. Instead, you will experience first hand how an accountant works in the professional CA environment. You’ll be exposed to realistic work experience and participate in assignments for a wide variety of clients.
All graduates receive specialised training as well as mentoring from a supervisor or manager.
You will receive regular feedback on progress, both formal and informal, which will enable you to improve your skills. Each year, every team member is formally appraised which ensures that you’re on track to achieving the goals that are relevant to you and the firms strategic direction.
You will also have the opportunity to attend professional networking events, team and staff meetings as well as our social functions.
Relevant training is provided throughout the year to assist with your professional development either through NZICA or CPA to meet your goal of becoming qualified.
Grant Thornton recognises and rewards team members in line with their ability and contribution. Career progression is determined by a system of meritocracy with promotions based on merit.
This system ensures that the pace of each individual’s career is determined solely by the individual, their performance, and their commitment and desire to achieve, rather than the amount of time they have served at any given level.
Underlying the firm’s system of meritocracy is the structured performance appraisal process. All team members are formally appraised on an annual basis. This regular appraisal cycle ensures that individuals are working towards goals that develop them personally and are congruent with the firm’s overall strategic direction.
Ongoing feedback in addition to the structured appraisal process, enables team members to mark personal progress and goals. It also serves as a basis for judging eligibility for promotion and establishing future career direction.
